| Christopher C. Louras, a 46 year-old Rutland
native, attended Rutland High School before graduating from
the University of Vermont in 1982. He joined the military shortly
thereafter and served as a U.S. Army
Maintenance Manager/Test Pilot until 1994, amassing over
2000 hours flying the CH-47D Chinook. Chris was stationed stateside
in Kentucky and Texas, supported a humanitarian mission in Honduras,
and served with distinction in a combat environment during the
1991 liberation of Kuwait during the Gulf War. He developed
his leadership and decision-making
skills while serving in a number of capacities where
his duties included ensuring the mission readiness of a 16-aircraft
unit valued in excess of 250 million dollars, as well as guiding,
evaluating and providing leadership for a 20-member aircraft
maintenance team. |

Upon returning to Rutland to raise his family, Chris joined his
brother Nico, his sister Valerie Fothergill, and his father Gus
in running Sam Frank Inc., a regional wholesale distributor of grocery,
tobacco and candy products serving stores throughout central and
southern Vermont. Here he has gained twelve
years of invaluable experience with the day-to-day management, operation
and oversight of a multi-million dollar business and learned how
to relate those lessons-learned to running a municipality.
Having served his country for ten
years, Chris felt a great sense of obligation to serve his
community as well and chose to run for the Rutland City Board of
Aldermen in 1995. He served until 2002 when he left the Board for
two years before returning in 2004. While on the Board of Aldermen,
Chris has gained a reputation as a
staunch defender of, and voice for, the taxpayer. His community
service record includes: Board of Directors for the Marble Valley
Regional Transit District (The Bus); Board of Directors for The
Dodge House/Veterans' Assistance Office; Member of the Governor's
Veterans' Advisory Council; Member of the Creative Economy Steering
Committee; and Member of the Vermont House of Representatives 2005-2006.
Chris is a dedicated
husband to his lovely wife, Judy, and
a proud father to his four sons, Christopher, Justin, Ian and Augie.
